Macro is where you focusoned on the picture and everything in the background becomes hazy and really unclear to tell what it is. when will you need macro well you will need it if your trying to take a small picture like an ant you have to really focused it so it can become really huge and clear. i like the seconded picture better because it shows more texture than anything you would find assionally.
